The Current Situation

The Ottoman Empire, which is known as Turkey today, tried to cover up what happened to the Armenian people in the years of 1915-1917. When the public found out, however, they went crazy. They wanted Turkey to be punished. At the end of World War 1, though, the Armenians were given their own state of Armenia for repayment of what had happened to them and what they had to endure. Here, they could live without ridicule. This caused drama, though. One source says, "The new state, neighbor to other Caucasian independent states such as Georgia and Azerbaijan, immediately found itself in a dramatic and dangerous situation" (Armenia). This is telling us that because of their new location, this put them in jeopardy. They went through many hardships in their new state and it was not the best solution to the situation. Another source says, "Its population of one million, including thirty thousand Muslims, was overwhelmed by three hundred thousand refugees living in unsanitary and nutritionally disastrous conditions" (Armenia). This is explaining what hardships the Armenians had to go through again, even though they were free. The Armenians never really got justice and things didn't exactly get better for them after years of discrimination.
